Since 1992, PCT Ginseng & Herbs has worked to produce a line of 20+ herbal dietary supplements based on traditional, Chinese medicinal formulas. Though there are hundreds of these documented formulas in herbal medicine, our selection of products addresses an excellent range of bodily ailments. We believe our products to be very good, effective sources of natural alternative supplements and hope to introduce many more people to our holistic approach to maintaining health.

For over 2000 years, traditional Chinese medicine has been practiced by millions of people to deal with a broad range of ailments. In herbal medicine, over 1500 varieties of medicinal substances are used to concoct tonics and remedies for addressing symptoms and the base problems that cause them. The Chinese medicine approach on health emphasizes a balanced state of living. Based on different concepts of physiology, preventative medicine, anatomy, chi and its circulation throughout the body, yin and yang, and the interaction of the five elements within the body, traditional Chinese medicine focuses on pinpointing imbalances within the body and stabilizing these imbalances to prevent and treat symptoms/illnesses. With trial, error, and time, traditional Chinese medicine has perfected and developed classic formulas to deal with health complications ranging from arthritis and high blood pressure to skin inflammation and congestion.

Customarily, these herbal formulas are placed in ceramic pots, soaked in water, and brought to a boil.  The therapeutic components are extracted out of the herbs through the boiling process, and the resulting liquid brew is consumed by the patient. The disadvantages of this traditional process consist of: the unpalatable, bitter taste of the concoction, the loss of time boiling the herbs for extraction, the inconvenience in the storage and preservation of the preparation, and the lack of concentration in the final product.  Nevertheless, the most common way in China to consume herbal medicine is through this tedious boiling process.

In the production of our herbal dietary supplements, PCT Ginseng & Herbs implements a modern pharmaceutical approach in handling traditional Chinese herbs. The highest quality of herbs are chosen, and they undergo proper cleaning preparations before being measured for the correct formula weight ratios.  The herbs are then processed through low temperature extraction and high vacuum condensation. To maintain the integrity of the herbs and their active ingredients, the low temperature of this entire process is crucial.  This low temperature concentration and extraction not only keeps the herbs’ active ingredients from being destroyed but also stops the nonessential components of the herbs (resin, heavy metals, & starch) from being released. The resulting concentrated liquid is freeze-dried, granulated, and filled into a gel capsule.

This modern approach to administering traditional herbal medicine in our dietary supplements has many benefits: only the most essential components of the herbs are extracted & processed for consumption, the time spent boiling a traditional herbal formula is saved, storage & preservation is much easier and more dependable, the unsavory bitter taste of traditional Chinese medicine is eliminated & replaced with an easy-to-swallow, tasteless capsule, and the total effectiveness of the product is greatly increased due to the high concentration ratio of herbs packed into each capsule.
